COLOMBO (News 1st); The new Cabinet of Ministers, and State Ministers were appointed last week, but it is reported that the scope and functions of their respective ministries have not yet been gazetted.

Following an inquiry made by News 1st, it was noted that the new Ministers and State Ministers DO NOT have an understanding of their respective subjects and functions.

As a result, Ministers, as well as State Ministers, have to face difficulties in making decisions regarding the functions of their respective ministries.

Several ministers said that due to this situation they had to delay the implementation of certain decisions that were made.

Newsfirst inquired from the President’s Office regarding the failure to issue the relevant gazette notification and a senior official said steps will be taken to issue the gazette notification soon.
