Prices of Essential Goods likely to drop

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Association of Importers of Essential Commodities said that a slight reduction in the prices of essential commodities is expected with the commencement of imports of goods under the Indian loan facility.

Its spokesperson Nihal Seneviratne said that it would be possible to start importing goods under the Indian loan facility within the next two weeks.

He also said that with the risen of the dollar rate, the prices of essential commodities have risen sharply.
