4 men arrested for attempted murder in Negombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); Four suspects who attempted to murder a businessman in the Negombo area have been arrested along with firearms.

Police said seized a T-56 Assault Rifle, 2 pistols, 19 live ammunition, and a foreign-made grenade from the possession of the suspects.

Sri Lanka Police said that it received information that a group was plotting to assassinate the businessman as he refused to surrender to their extortion rackets, and an operation was launched to arrest them,

Police said investigations have revealed that they were in close contact with two suspects involved in organized crime, currently in hiding overseas.

The suspects are residents of Kotuwegoda and Minuwangoda.
