China assures support for socio-economic stability - Chinese PM

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang has assured Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa that China will support Sri Lanka for economic and social stability.

The Prime Minister's Office said that the Chinese Premier made this comment in a phone conversation with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday (22).

The Chinese Prime Minister has noted that China understands the difficulties and challenges that Sri Lanka is facing, and will do its best uplift the livelihoods of the people of Sri Lanka.

He had assured that both the Sri Lankan and Chinese Governments will work together is solving the urgent financial issues.

Both Prime Ministers had discussed on further talks on the Free Trade Agreement, reducing Sri Lanka's trade deficit, and attracting more Chinese tourists to the country.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had thanked the Chinese government for is assurance that it would provide humanitarian aid towards Sri Lanka.
