Govt offered USD 2 Mn to newly appointed State Ministers, alleges SJB MP Nalin Bandara

COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition MP Nalin Bandara alleged that the government has offered USD 2 Million for those who were appointed as State Ministers.

"We have information about 5 people. They have offered money and positions to protect this government," he noted.

"MP Wimal Weerawansa revealed that individuals had visited residences to seek support from their MPs for ministerial positions, and cash," he said.

The MP said that some of the State Ministers appointed on Monday (18) were offered USD 2 Million, while adding that these transactions are taking place at a time when the country is finding it difficult purchase essential medicines.

"More than 50 people are dying in hospitals without medicine, and this is murder," he told Parliament on Tuesday (19), blaming the government for these issues.
