Bus fares to increase by 35% – Lanka Private Bus Owners Association

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association on Tuesday (19) announced that it was approved to increase bus fares by 35% with effect from today.

Gemunu Wijeratne, the Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association said the minimum bus fare will be revised to Rs. 27/-

The price hike comes after both the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Lanka IOC decided to increase fuel prices this week.

Private Bus Owners said that public transport services can NO longer be maintained due to the continuous increase in fuel prices and the current fuel shortage.

The Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association, Gemunu Wijeratne said that there several bus remain stationary on the road due to the shortage of fuel.
