'Act responsibly' - PAFFREL warns rulers

COLOMBO (News 1st); PAFFREL states that rulers are underestimating the current struggle of the people.

A statement issued by its Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchi states that MPs and party leaders have acted irresponsibly during the past few days, while the PAFFREL organization further points out that the Government and the Parliament has failed to present adequate propositions or programs to solve these issues.

PAFFREL also emphasizes that neither the Government nor the Parliament will be able to escape responsibility if violence develops in the country and lives are lost due to this.t.

PAFFREL has also pointed out several issues that the government and the opposition should pay attention to in order to resolve the issue;

Acknowledging that there are crises in the country and keeping in mind that they are responsible for them.
Immediate cessation of statements underestimating the people's struggle.
Stop attempting to dilute the struggle.
Taking prompt action to rebuild trust.
Initiating broad discourse instead of attempting to gain Parliamentary majority

PAFFREL has also pointed out the need for the Opposition to act responsibly and move towards a common program for the next two years, regardless of political advantages or disadvantages.
