PUCSL to consult public regarding electricity tariff hike

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has decided to consult the public regarding an increase in electricity tariffs.

Its Chairman, Janaka Ratnayake stated that the Ministry of Power and Energy has submitted a request to increase the electricity tariffs.

However, the Public Utilities Commission stated that the Ministry of Power and Energy has been directed to correct certain mistakes in the proposals and to redirect it.

The Public Utilities Commission emphasized that although electricity tariffs must be increased, the current situation is not the ideal time for such a decision.
