COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said that steps have been taken to import 265,000 MT of fuel this month.
The Chairman of the CPC, Sumith Wijesinghe said that Buffer Stock is also expected to be maintained under the import.
He said currently, the CPC has around 73,000 MT of fuel in its storage.
He further said that fuel consumption has increased rapidly these days, since people are using a generator due to power cuts, and people have stockpiled for their personal use as well.
He said that most of the filling stations are seen with barrels than vehicles.
He urged the general public NOT to panic and NOT to gather fuel unnecessarily.
