Two homicides in Kataragama & Sevanagala

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two murders were reported from Kataragama and Sevanagala on Thursday (7) night for two separate reasons.

Police stated that a man was stabbed to death during a brawl between two groups in the Raja-mawatha area in Kataragama.

Sri Lanka Police said that a long standing dispute had escalated resulting in the murder.

The deceased has been identified as a 22-year-old resident of Rajamawatha, Kataragama.

Three other persons were injured in the incident, and at the moment they are being treated at the Debarawewa Hospital.

Police said that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the assault.

Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death in the Sevanagala Samadhipura area on Thursday (7) night.

Police said the cause for the murder was a personal dispute.

The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old resident of Ihala Sooriyawewa.

Police further said that the suspect involved in the murder has fled the area and investigations are underway to arrest him.
