COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan opposition Lawmaker Harin Fernando has informed the Secretary-General of Parliament that he would renounce his parliamentary salary for the upcoming year.
On Wednesday (6) MP Harin Fernando said that the Parliamentarians have a duty to show the public some sacrifice to win the confidence of the public.
“For the next one year, I will not take my Parliament salary and will not eat in the parliament canteen,” MP Harin Fernando said.
In his letter on Thursday (7), Fernando said “I believe that we as public servants should do whatever possible during these trying times to lessen the burden on our economy and the country.”
