COLOMBO (News 1st); The country is going towards disorderly default, says the Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), Rauff Hakeem.
Speaking at the Parliament today (07), Hakeem stated that by May or June Sri Lanka will be forced to default and the country will be in a much worse situation.
He also demanded whether the Government has taken any steps regarding this, including the appointment of a legal firm to suspend debt payment.
Further noting that Sri Lanka does not have a Finance Minister at present, the MP said that it is a very serious situation.
"Our worker remittances have come down by 60%. This was about 7 billion. So what are we going to do? 30% inflation in the country today, because you went on printing money and created this inflation," he stated.
