IMF monitoring political & economic developments in SL very closely - Report

COLOMBO (News 1st); The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is monitoring political and economic developments in Sri Lanka "very closely", reports Reuters.

In a statement, the IMF Sri Lanka mission chief Masahiro Nozaki has stated t0 Reuters that "IMF staff is looking forward to program discussions with the authorities, including during the visit of the newly appointed Finance Minister to Washington later this month,".

The newly appointed Minister of Finance, Ali Sabry resigned today (05) after 24 hours of being appointed while the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, S.R. Attygalle also resigned a short while ago.
