Protestors obstructing Galle Road in Moratuwa cleared

COLOMBO (News 1st); A group of people who were protesting at the Moratuwa Junction completely obstructing the Galle Road, have moved out of the road, according to reports received by News 1st correspondents. 

The mass protest which was initiated this morning by carpenters, fishermen and businessmen in Moratuwa, is still ongoing. 

At around 10.45 am today (01), protesters who had completely blocked the Galle Road crossroads began their protest, saying they had been severely affected by the power cuts, gas and fuel crisis.

Police and riot squads were called to the scene, and while protestors blocked the road, they only allowed for school vehicles and ambulances to pass through.
