Mobile Communication affected by Power Cuts

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Technology said that telecommunication signal issues have arisen in some areas due to continuous power cuts for several hours.

Secretary to the Ministry of Technology, Jayantha de Silva said that this situation had arisen due to the NON-availability of Diesel for the generators during power outages at the signal towers.

As a result, the signal towers are inactive and several issues have arisen, including access to internet services in their respective coverage areas.

The Secretary further said that a program has been initiated to supply diesel to every signal tower.

He said that special software has been prepared for the relevant process.
