COLOMBO (News 1st); Handing over a land to investors in order to carry out a project does not mean that the other entities get to keep the lands permanently, says Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Jagath Kumara.

Speaking at a SLPP press conference held today (31), the MP was asked whether the Government is planning to handover three islands in Jaffna for a power project.

MP Kumara, in response said that investors do not bring land along with them to the country when they want to implement projects, but they have to be given lands to carry out such projects, however that does not mean that the Government is selling off its national assets.

"They do not get to keep the lands permanently. They will hand over a part of the ownership to us later on. No country is taking over lands permanently in Sri Lanka. Please be aware of this fact," he added.
