COLOMBO (News 1st); The IMF report pushes the Government to accept that the economic policies observes by the Government have completely failed, says Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harsha de Silva.
Speaking at a press conference today (26), the MP emphasized that due to the economic policy pursued by the Government , the 22 million people of this country are now in a most tragic, most serious economic and social crisis which ever took place in Sri Lanka.
Therefore, as a responsible opposition we say we are ready to carry out these most serious reforms with the government through a parliamentary mechanism, through the Finance Committee or through a special committee, the MP said.
Requesting the Government to provide the necessary support for the purpose, MP de Silva pointed out that the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ajith Nivard Cabraal repeatedly stated that hhat he would not go to the IMF and that he does not need anyone's advice.
However, the IMF stated that the economic policies adapted by the Government have completely failed now, and have proven that the roadmap presented by the CBSL is a failure. Therefore, MP de Silva stated, it is not a political decision to whether or not to accept the recommendations forwarded by the IMF.
