Sri Lanka to import medicines under Indian Credit Line

COLOMBO (News 1st); The State Ministry of Medicine Production & regulation has taken steps to facilitate the importation of medicines via the private sector with funding from the Indian Credit Line.

The Secretary of the State Ministry of Medicine Production & regulation Dr. Saman Ratnayaka stated the registration of medicine importers has commenced.

He further stated that steps have been taken to import medicines to Government Hospital under the Indian Credit Line. adding that 85% of Sri Lanka’s medicines are imported from India.

The Secretary said that these measures were taken to prevent a shortage of medicine due to the shortage of dollars.
