COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Energy, Gamini Lokuge stated that steps have been taken to provide security for the people who are waiting in queues to obtain fuel and to the employees who are working in filling stations.
Further, the Minister said he has informed the Police regarding this.
Several altercations were reported in connection with fuel queues in the last few days, while a murder took place at Horagolla, Nittambuwa on Sunday (20) due to an argument in the filling station.
Sri Lanka Army personnel have been deployed to monitor the distribution of fuel at filling stations operated by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
This was confirmed to News 1st by the Military Spokesperson on Tuesday (22).
