COLOMBO (News 1st);The Essential Goods Importers’ Association stated that about 1,500 containers of essential goods imported from India are stuck in the Port of Colombo.
The spokesman of the Essential Goods Importer’s Association, Nihal Seneviratne stated that steps will be taken to release the containers as soon as possible under the Indian loan scheme.
He said that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade have agreed to this.
Further, Nihal Seneviratne stated that stocks of wheat flour, sugar, and rice are in the cargo containers that were imported from India.
