Two arrested for robbing Nawala filling station

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two suspects have been arrested for robbing a filling station in Nawala, Mirihana.

According to Police, the suspects were arrested alongside a three-wheeler, four swords and Rs. 10,000 stolen from the filling station, in addition to 10 grams and 300 milligrams of heroin in their possession.

The suspects, aged 24 and 37, were identified as residents of Moragasmulla and Narahenpita.

The suspects who arrived at the Nawala filling station on 18th March in a three wheeler had attacked the employees with swords and robbed them of over Rs. 250,000, and fled.

Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in Walanagoda, Katunayake with 14 motorcycles stolen from various places in the island.

The motorcycles were stolen from Kurunegala, Wellawa, Pothuhera, Nittambuwa, Weliweriya, Warakapola, Ja-Ela, Veyangoda and Peliyagoda.

The suspect has been identified as a 24 year old resident of Polpithigama, and will be produced before the Minuwangoda courts today (20).
