COLOMBO (News 1st); International telephone call rates have been increased by service providers recently.

Secretary to the Ministry of Technology, Jayantha de Silva stated that the relevant companies have informed the Ministry in this regard.

Telephone service providers have increased international call charges in the wake of the rupee depreciating by about 30% against the dollar.

However, no approval has been granted to increase local call or internet charges, the Secretary to the Ministry of Technology said.
