COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers had given approval for the Finance Minister to commence discussions with the International Monetary Fund, revealed Joint Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Ramesh Pathirana on Tuesday (15).
"An IMF team is in Sri Lanka and we are getting their technical assistance," he told reporters adding that the green light was given for discussions with the IMF representatives.
"Whether its a matter of technical assistance or other, it will be a matter of time," he stressed when questioned if the government will seek an IMF bailout or technical assistance.
