Amber advisory for severe lightning & thundershowers

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber advisory for severe lightning until 11:00 p.m. today (12).

Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Western, Southern, Central and Uva provinces and in Kaluthara district.

Meanwhile, heavy showers about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Central, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, while fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places.
