Social Security Fund for the working masses

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Labor, Nimal Siripala De Silva stated that the Government is currently focusing on establishing a social security fund for the working masses.
He stated that he will discuss with the Employers, Trade Unions, and other stake holders on the matter to provide better benefits for the people.
"When COVID-19 made its wya to Sri Lanka, we did not have a social welfare system. It is only now that we speak of the want for a Social Security Fund," said the Minister as an event at the Department of Labour.
The Minister said it is paramount to establish a Social Security Fund to protect the people, at the time of a natural disaster.
