COLOMBO (News 1st); A group engaged in a protest opposite the residence of Hirunika Premachandra, asking her not to criticize the President and said that they will bear the brunt of living in Sri Lanka.

Speaking during a press conference held on Sunday (06), Premachadra stated that about 40 to 50 people engaged in a protest opposite her residence after the Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya engaged in a protest in front of the President's residence on Saturday (5).

Remarking on the protest in front of the President's house, Premachandra stated that no Police officer attempted to arrest or move them out of the area, as the police too felt the same pain that they felt.

Speaking on the group that engaged in a protest in front of her residence, she said she was asked not to criticize the President as they were willing to go without milk powder, diesel, cement and even electricity.

"This group said that they'll travel in bullock carts if there's no diesel, that they'll somehow feed their kids without milk powder, they will build houses out of clay if there's no cement and will eat sand if there is no rice and are willing to use kerosene lamps just as many did 70 years ago, and told me not to raise my voice against the President," MP Premachandra said.

"They said they will patiently wait for a solution from the President. I say, these are the real slaves of Sri Lanka," she added.
