Next school term to begin tomorrow (07), circular issued

COLOMBO (News 1st); The next school term of 2022 is due to begin tomorrow (07).

Dr. Anwar Hamdani, Director of Medical Technology Services and the coordinator for COVID-19 at the Ministry of Health urges parents to pay special attention to health guidelines and hygiene practices when sending students to school.

According to a new circular issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Education regarding the commencement of the new school term, all students in classes up to 20 students, should be summoned to school every day.

The circular states that students in classes 20 to 40 should be divided into two groups and summoned to school every other week, while classes with more than 40 students should conduct academic activities after dividing the class into three equal sections.

According to the new circular, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education has informed the Provincial Secretaries of Education, leading education authorities and principals that the relevant subject areas should be covered using alternative learning methods for groups of students who are not summoned to school.

Meanwhile, the President of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors' Association Upul Rohana stated that dengue control programs will be implemented in schools before the commencement of schools tomorrow.
