New school term to begin on 7th March

COLOMBO (News 1st); The upcoming term of schools for the year 2022 begins on Monday, 7th of March.

This is following the conclusion of the 2021 GCE Advanced Level Examination.

A new circular bearing the signature of the Secretary to the Ministry of Education has also been issued informing all Provincial Education Secretaries, education officials and Principals, on how classes should be conducted during the second term.

According to the circular, all classes with upto 20 students are to commence academic activities at full capacity every day.

The circular notes that classes with 20 to 40 students should be divided into two groups of students and academic activities be conducted for each group every other week.

If a class exceeds 40 students, it must be divided into three groups of students and academic activities be conducted accordingly.

The Education Secretary further noted that as per the circular, for students who are not required to attend classes, subject material should be covered by using alternate methods of teaching.
