Angered over delay in fuel, drivers protest in Kalutara

COLOMBO (News 1st); Drivers who had been waiting in front of the Gonaduwa petrol station for five days in anticipation of diesel dumped barrels and cans in front of the Gonaduwa petrol station this afternoon and obstructed traffic on the Kalutara-Bandaragama road completely.

A team of Police officers from Morontuduwa police arrived at the scene and discussed with the drivers about clearing the road, however, the drivers did not agree to open the road.

After assurances by the OICs of the Morontuduwa, Wadduwa and Bandaragama Police with the protesters and the filling station owners, the protesters let the traffic continue.

Due to this, a long queue of vehicles were sighted from Gonaduwa area towards Kalutara and Bandaragama.
