COLOMBO (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa handed over appointment letters to 13 new High Court judges on Thursday (03).
Accordingly, eight District Judge, a Chief Magistrate, two Magistrates and two Senior State Counsels were appointed as High Court Judges.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that it was his aim to secure the independence of the judiciary, ensure the rule of law in the country and prevent the delays in court proceedings.

07. Mr. R. Weliwatta – (Previous Position- District Court Judge)
08. Mr. G.L. Priyantha – (Previous Position- Magistrate)
09. Mr. A. Nishantha Peiris – (Previous Position- District Court Judge)
