Prison officers foil heroin smuggling attempt at Colombo Remand Prison

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prison officers attached to the Colombo Prison managed to detect narcotic substances believed to be heroin, from a package that was to be handed over to an inmate on Tuesday (1).

According to reports, a relative of a suspect had made his way to the Colombo Remand Prison noting that he wishes to visit the suspect in question, on Monday (1).

However, officers of the Prison Emergency Response Strategic Force positioned at the Wesley Post had felt suspicious over the package and inspected it.

Upon inspection, the officer managed to locate 4 tiny packets with white power, believed to be heroin, concealed inside the package.

The man who brought the package and the narcotic substances were handed over to the Borella Police for further investigations.
