Medirigiriya resident dead due to elephant attack

COLOMBO (News 1st); A man has passed away in Palliyagodalla due to a wild elephant attack.

An elephant has killed a 54-year-old resident of Palliyagodella, Medirigiriya after encroaching on a village surpassing the electric fence.

This incident occurred during the power cut which took place on Monday (28) night.

Wild elephants have increasingly begun to roam due to the power cuts rendering electric fences useless.

The wild elephant involved in the attack is reported to be still roaming in the Somawathiya Reserve.
