Possible increase in COVID cases during festive season

COLOMBO (News 1st); Health Officials warn that there could be an increase in the COVID-19 spread during the upcoming Festival season, given the increase in movement.

The Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardana pointed out that 60 to 70 % of the deaths due to COVID-19 are over age 60.

Furthermore, at present Dengue is also spreading around the country, he said.

The Health Sector especially pointed out that the number of children infected with dengue is also on the rise.
