COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Industries, Wimal Weerawansa states that plans are afoot to import necessary raw materials for industrialists soon.

The Minister, pointing out that significant difficulties have arisen in carrying out industrial imports to Sri Lanka due to the current foreign exchange crisis in the country, stated that Cabinet members also discussed about the relevant issue.

Therefore, the Minister stated that he submitted a report to the President containing the raw materials required by industrialists for the upcoming three months.

Moreover, Minister Weerawansa said that he suggested that Sri Lanka can speak to another nation such as China and create a special credit line to obtain the raw materials.

He added that he hopes to discuss the issue with the Chinese Ambassador in the future and reach an agreement, and if successful, the raw material crisis will be answered.
