COLOMBO (News 1st): The general public will have to bear the loss incurred, if the prices of fuel are not increased, Udaya Gammanpila, the Minister of Energy said.
According to Minister Gammanpila, at present, a litre of Petrol is sold at a loss of Rs. 19, a litre of Diesel is sold at a loss of Rs. 52, and a litre of Super Diesel is sold at a loss of Rs. 35.
Thereby, he questioned as to who will bear the loss incurred in this manner through the sale of fuel at the current prices.
"This loss must be covered somehow. Who will bear this loss? The President, the Prime Minister nor the Finance Minister will bring money from 'Medamulana' for this. Only the people of this country will have to bear this loss." Minister Udaya Gammanpila pointed out.
