COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils, and Local Government has issued a series of instructions to all Government Institutions to use electricity and fuel sparingly.
These instructions were issued at the request of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), J.J. Ratnasiri, the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils, and Local Government told News 1st on Sunday (Feb. 20).
According to Ratnasiri, as per the series of instructions, Government Institutions have been advised to reduce the use of Air Conditioners (A/Cs) and unnecessary lights institutions as much as possible.
Moreover, instructions have also been issued for Government Institutions to not use fuel for non-essential journeys.
The use of Government vehicles to summon officials from outstation to Colombo for discussions and seminars has already been restricted, Ratnasiri further noted.
