COLOMBO (News 1st); State minister Sanath Nishantha says that the Sri Lankan economy was only second to China during the period when Minister Basil Rajapaksa was the Minister responsible for Economic Development in Sri Lanka.

Remarking on the current economic situation during a press briefing held on Thursday (17), the State Minister said that the Government had allocated funds for  to provide for the needs of the people, because the current Government listens to the people. 

Emphasizing that the Government had indeed proven this with practical examples, the State Minister pointed out that the Sri Lankan economy was only second to China during the time when Minister Basil Rajapaksa operated as the Minister in charge of Economic Development, however the present Government had to take a step back as Sri Lanka started taking on large-scale projects.
