COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is preparing to launch a token strike alleging that decisions are being taken in violation of the salary policy.

Member of the GMOA Central Committee, Dr. Prasad Colombage stated that the main issue for the GMOA to go for a strike is the wages issue, and alleged that the issue has been lasting too long, from one Cabinet to another, all which are attempting to make various changes to salaries and salary increments. 

Emphasizing that the Government should always abide by a State Policy when taking decisions with regard to salary increments, Dr. Colambage cautioned that if the necessary changes are not made by the relevant commissions, it will inevitably lead to another wave of strikes.
