COLOMBO (News 1st); Due to the shortage of essential commodities in the country due to the economic crisis, people waiting in queues for milk powder, gas and kerosene has become a common sight.
A queue of about 100 people was seen near a local milk powder outlet this morning (05).
Meanwhile, dairy producers say that the price of a yoghurt will have to be increased again due to the increase in the price of raw materials.
Manjula Nishantha, the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Dairy Food Producers Association stated that they too are facing a difficult situation due to the increase in the prices of goods, as due to the dollar shortage, the price of raw materials continue to increase day by day.
Pointing out that in 2020, a yoghurt was being sold for Rs. 30, Nishantha said that if the price of ingredients increase, the price of a yoghurt may also increase by Rs. 5 to 10.
