COLOMBO (News 1st); Gammadda celebrated the 74th Independence Day of Sri Lanka in the remote village of Nelumvila in Anuradhapura on Friday (4).

The RO Water Purification Plant constructed by Gammadda to quench the thirst of residents of the Nelumwila village in Mahavilachchiya, Anuradhapura was vested in the public, in line with the 74th Independence Day.

The project was launched on the 6th of November last year, to provide a solution to over 650 families in Nelumwila and 22 surrounding villages who were suffering for a very long period, due to the lack of access to Clean Drinking Water, as well as the Human-Elephant Conflict.

Around 150 residents are suffering due to Chronic Kidney Disease, while 30 villagers had passed away due to CKD.

The project was financially sponsored by the Tennyson & Vinitha Rodrigo Trust Fund.

The Independence Day celebrations in the village of Nelumwila will also feature a Tree Planting Program conducted under the leadership of Gammadda.
