Egg Attack: JVP not satisfied with slow-paced inquiry

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National People's Power on Wednesday (2) filed a complaint with the Inspector General of Police seeking the investigation on an egg attack at a JVP rally, be expedited.

Two men who threw eggs at a vehicle that was parked outside a meeting attended by JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake were nabbed by party supporters and handed over to the Nittambuwa police over the weekend.

The NPP in its complaint to the Police Chief noted that the investigations are slow, despite two suspects being identified.

"We cannot simply assume that this was just an incident of hurling eggs at a meeting. We cannot be satisfied with the investigations," said Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the JVPs politburo member.

Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala, a Central Committee Member of the JVP said when the person responsible for the attack is being revealed, the investigations are being delayed.

He highlighted serious concerns over the delay in investigations.
