Cops clash in Ambepussa; Inquiry underway

COLOMBO (News 1st); Investigations are currently underway into an incident where two groups of Police Officers who were under the influence of alcohol, when they clashed in Ambepussa.

The clash had taken place on 29th January, between a van and another motor vehicle.

Accordingly, the van was being driven by a Police Officer, an Inspector of the Commission of Bribery or Corruption and the Traffic OIC of the Marawila Police while the OIC of the Gampaha Police Anti-Corruption Unit and two others were traveling in the car.

The cause of the clash has been determined to be a traffic offense.

The altercation escalated into an exchange of blows and subsequently, the Marawila Traffic OIC was admitted to the Marawila Hospital while the Gampaha Anti-Corruption Unit OIC was admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital.
