Get ready to face a famine by April New Year: MP Alawathuwala

COLOMBO (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP J. C. Alawathuwala says that the country will face a famine by the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in April due to incorrect economic policies implemented by the Government.

The SJB MP pointed out that farmers were only able to reap a harvest of about 50% or less in comparison to the harvest of previous years, during this year, and the cause for the decrease is the fertilizer crisis, caused by the Government.

Moreover, he demanded as to how farmers can make a living in this day and age, as the price of rice has skyrocketed.

" The country has come to a juncture where there will be a famine by the Sinhala and Tamil New year," he added.
