COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Elections Commission says that it will accept applications for the registration of political parties from Monday (24).
Chairman of the Elections Commission Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa speaking to News 1st said the respective gazette will be made public on Monday (24).
There are 79 registered political parties in Sri Lanka and 6 of them are considered as inactive political parties due to legal issues.
