COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board says both power stations at the Kelanitissa Power Plant Complex are now active.
CEB Spokesperson and Additional General Manager Andrew Nawamani said 282 MW is currently being added to the National Grid.
He noted that accordingly, there is NO need for power cuts on Thursday (20) night.
Andrew Nawamani said 1,800 MT of Diesel was provided by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation for power generation, and Diesel is being pumped to the CEB.
At the same time, the Ceylon Electricity Board said that furnace oil stocks for the generation of electricity will only last until Thursday (20).
According to Andrew Nawamani, another 1,000 MT of Furnace Oil is required for power generation and he noted that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has been informed in this regard.
The Sapugaskanda Power Station and the Barge Mounted Power Plant at the Colombo Port run on Furnace Oil and 150 MW of power is added to the National Grid daily through these power stations.
