Hit-and-Run suspect, also wanted for financial fraud, arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); A man wanted for a hit-and-run incident in Rambukkana was arrested by Police on Saturday (16).

Sri Lanka Police said the suspect, identified as a 50-year-old from Weligama, was also wanted by authorities for financial fraud.

Police said that on the 10th of July 2021 the suspect had knocked down a man in Rambukkana while driving his van and then fled the scene.

He was arrested on Saturday (15) in the Kotawella area.

Police investigations revealed that he was suspects wanted by detectives over four incidents of financial fraud where he had promised individuals of employment opportunities overseas and taken their money.
