COLOMBO (News 1st); The Railway Station Masters have decided to resume their strike action on Friday (14).

However, the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways stated that the operations will continue.

Meanwhile, the Department of Railways stated that it is exploring the possibility of taking legal action with regard to the unannounced token strike action launched by the Railway Station Masters Association yesterday, causing severe inconveniences to the commuters.

Accordingly, the Railways Department will look into whether the Fundamental Rights of the people had been violated as a result of the Station Masters token strike carried out without any prior notice.

The Department noted that legal action will be instituted against those responsible for Thursday's (13) strike action.

As a result of the strike action, certain passengers were compelled to get off trains before reaching their destinations even after purchasing tickets for the full journey.
