Quota for Lankans employed in South Korea to be increased

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. G.L. Peris says that the South Korean Government has agreed to increase the quota provided for employment for Sri Lankans in South Korea effective next year. Expressing his remarks during an event in Galle on Thursday (13), the Minister stated that during his official visit to South Korea, he met with some of the prominent South Korean Leaders such as the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament, and made a request to increase the quota provided for Sri Lankans employed in South Korea. Speaking further, the Minister stated that the South Korean leadership agreed that Sri Lankans are major contributing factor to uplift the economy in South Korea, and as a result, agreed to increase the quota for Sri Lankans. Accordingly, the South Korean authorities have stated that the details regarding this will be published by February 2022.
