COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Minister Chamal Rajapaksa was met with strong resistance from a local monk during an event to solve issues pertaining to Mahaweli lands in Hambantota on Thursday (13).

A heated argument broke out when two factions claimed that owned the land in which the temple, the monk represents, was located at.

As the argument intensified, security personnel decided to remove the monk identified as the Chief Incumbent of the Sooriyawewa Maha-Ara Nigodharama Temple, from the premises.

The Venerable Thero alleged that the issues were caused by Minister Chamal Rajapaksa.

However, the minister said the issues surrounding lands will be solved.
