COLOMBO (News 1st); The former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that it is difficult for youth to rise to the political stage these days, and the current leaders must take steps to ensure that a proper future is created for the future generations to prosper.

Speaking to News 1st on the program '10 questions', the former Prime Minister said that those who left the party and those who are remaining in the party both should bear responsibility for the UNP to reduce to a party represented by a singular member at the Parliament.

Moreover, the former Prime Minister stated that the UNP will be restructured to let the youth lead the party, and several persons have already been selected for the purpose.

He also said that it is difficult for the youth to prosper in the political arena of today, as family politics, lack of funds and the elections system themselves act as barriers.

Meanwhile, the former Prime Minister stated that he does not do politics all the time, but greatly enjoys Netflix shows in his spare time.

He said that due to the pandemic, he has been spending time reading books, watching Netflix, listening to songs and even watching stage dramas.

MP Wickremesinghe stated that he watches streaming shows such as 'A Very British Scandal' (BBC historical drama television miniseries) and 'The Tourist' which is an internationally co-produced limited television series.

Mentioning that he greatly enjoys Indian, Chinese, Spanish, South American and European movies, the former Prime Minister recommended that several good movies will make their way to the public in February 2022.
